What is the benefit of religion?
About the video: ‘What is the benefit of religion?’
Sulak Sivaraksa says that most religions fall into two broad categories: tribal and universal. Tribal religion tends to develop the attitude that one particular religion is right and that all others are inferior. Universal religion, on the other hand, recognizes the underlying commonalities shared by all religions. Tribal religion must be tempered. Furthermore, Sivaraksa exhorts, we must try to build a bond of trust with religious fundamentalists. It is only through dialogue and a true understanding of our shared common ground that lasting peace can be achieved.
