Primatologist, humanitarian and founder of the Jane Goodall Institute, Dr Goodall is also the founder of the global youth programme Roots and Shoots. She is a United Nations Messenger of Peace and the recipient of the 2001 Gandhi/King Award for Nonviolence. She is best known for her 45-year study of chimpanzee social and family interactions in Gombe Stream National Park, Tanzania.
