Biography
Scientist, Venture Capitalist from United States
As Co-Founder and Chief Scientist of Sun Microsystems, Bill Joy pioneered the design of the computer chips and software integral to today’s internet.
Since 2005, his primary focus has been on investment in green technologies as a partner in the venture capital firm Kleiner, Perkins, Caufield & Byers.
He is widely known for having written the essay “Why the future doesn’t need us” (2000), where he expresses deep concerns over the development of modern technologies.
